Cookin’ Up Summertime Favorites: Blackberry Lemon Breeze Smoothie

Posted by

It’s summer and it’s so so hot! So, if you need to cool down, try this recipe out!

It is a little known fact that I spent my summers through college working at a popular smoothie joint. In my opinion, there’s no better way to cool down, than a fresh smoothie. You can keep it light for a treat or pack your blender full of fresh fruit, protein, and other supplements for a healthy and filling lunch or dinner. There’s also the not-so-healthy favorite recipes that get drummed up from time to time, like my sister’s favorite chocolate peanut butter shake I mean smoothie, but that’s for some other time.

Tonight I’m playing with my hubby’s favorite flavors -berries and lemon. I love sweet and creamy, like milkshakes could be my best friend, but I think when you’re super hot, too much sweetness and heavy dairy can be unappetizing. So, though this recipe is sweet, it also brings tart lemon sorbet into the mix, creating a perfect harmony of flavors that are sure to cool you down.

Blackberry Lemon Breeze

A refreshing smoothie that’ll hit the spot on these hot summer days. Blackberry, Lemon, and Pomegranate come together to make cooling down a breeze and oh so delicious.

10 oz Pomegranate Juice
1/2 Cup Fresh Blackberries (They’re in season!)
1/3 Cup Frozen Strawberries
1/3 Cup Frozen Blueberries
1/3 Cup Frozen Raspberries
3/4 Cup Frozen Yogurt
1/3 Cup Lemon Sorbet (My Homemade Lemon Sorbet Recipe)

Place all in the blender and blend well. If you’d like your smoothie thicker add more berries. If you’re smoothie is too thick and will not blend, add a couple ounces of juice at a time, with a quick stir, until it blends completely. Please note blackberries do have seeds, if you’re not a huge fan of that, you can use all raspberries or even all strawberries instead.

  15. Wow, this is a yummy combination of fruits. My neighbor, well 3 doors down, have these blackberries that over lap their fence and spoil every year. I alway want to pick them to color dye a shirt or something. But in a smoothie makes it all the more mouth watering. Thanks for sharing!
